I’ve never been a fan of New Year’s Resolutions, why only do them at the start of the year to change the things you want? Setting goals for the year is another thing. Though I tend to have lofty goals, it’s always interesting to see how my trajectory changed throughout the year.
I actually totally forgot I even wrote out goal, but ended up achieving over half though not in the way I expected. So what about for 2024? Well, it’s a year of goals and deadlines.
Witch of the Lunar Order Glow-up
As I’ve mentioned before, things are changing for the better with book one. Like most people, I work better with hard deadlines and people holding me accountable. But I also have to be realistic (which is never fun) and last year taught me I have no idea how long publishing a book takes. But now I have a better idea, May 2024 will be my relaunch of Witch of the Lunar Order.
If you already own a copy, you will automatically get the new version when you update. So what’s changing?
A new title/cover are in the works from the amazing Trif Cover Design. While we are still fixing some details here is a sneak peak.
I know it’s just a tease but everything else is being tweaked. But I already love it enough that book two’s cover is planned for March. The best part is that with this cover I will be printing paperbacks and doing some fun giveaways.
The interior content is next up, which has two phases. I’m sending it off to an editor to hunt for ways to improve it, as of right now I’ve added some new content which I think will add to the story. Tidbits and conversations I’ve been wanting to add in.
In March I will be looking for readers to give their feedback and then it’s off to a second editor for a prose polish.
Forged in Moonlight and a Prequel
My next goals are book 2 and a short story prequel for Nyssa. The prequel is set when Nyssa is thirteen and manifests her magic. Already half written, this story will be free to me newsletter subscribers.
Outlining and writing book 2 will start this month while book 1 is off with the editor. While nothing is set in stone, I know that this book will introduce us to the rest of Nyssa’s family and airing some of their dirty laundry.
Arkirith is far from safe, and Nyssa finds herself teaming up with our favorite enforcers, Rynac and Indra. Some annoying nephilim might even make an appearance because they excel at causing trouble. Plus we will discover more about the Lunar Order (I mean it is in the series title after all).
As for a release date, the preorder is set for November but I am hoping to bring it forward. Though it will all depend on what this year decides to throw at me and how booked up my editors are.
Supporting Fellow Indie Authors
This is my biggest goal for the year, which I set the groundwork for in December. If you follow me on TikTok you might have seen my Indie Author review challenge. Check the video out below. But the TL;DR version is I want to help promote the hidden gems of indie fantasy.
Finding books that I loved that are under 50 reviews and giving them the shout out they deserve. I hope to encourage other readers to help boost these books as reviews are one of the best gifts you can give an indie author.
I’ll be posting these books within the newsletter too if you are not on Tiktok or Instagram. I hope that you’ll join in and add reviewing indie novels to your yearly goal.
So what are your goals for the year? I am for a book a month, I’d love to do more but for this goal I am realistic. Writing and being a mum are both full time jobs, plus I am also training to be a book coach, because who doesn’t need three jobs?
Do you have any reading goals? How many books do you want to read this year? Hit reply and let me know!
