The Last Lunar Witch is off with the BETA readers!
I’ve had my nose to the grindstone working through cleaning up the story to be ready for beta readers. This process was going through using a program called ProWriting Aid which helps with all things grammar.
Going through line by line, hunting for words that don’t need to be there or clutter up the sentence, rewording confusing sentences, deleting overused words, and other tedious tasks.
While the do make the story a lot easier to read, it is very draining. But it was such a relief to have it finished, to know I’m one step closer.
BETA readers will read through and look for any gaps or plot holes, pointing out any confusing parts, and giving me an overall opinion of the book. They act as early readers, which I know seems silly as I’ve already had readers, but I need to know if my changes are hitting the right mark.
What’s next?
As always, I have a million things on my plate. While the BETA readers do their thing, I have time to turn to reading other authors BETAs. I’m also trying to jump back and do some new writing!
I have a prequel story of when Nyssa manifests her magic that has been burning in my brain for far too long. I’m hoping to get this short story out by April and will be free to all of you on my newsletter. It’s a fun little story that shows how witches manifest their magic and Nyssa’s little dip in that lake.
What are you reading?
Being done with my edits for now, I jumped in headfirst to reading again. It’s a great way to recharge my creative energies.
First was Paladin’s Faith by T Kingfisher, a hilarious romantasy and book 4 in her Saint of Steel series. I will never not recommend this series or anything by Kingfisher.
Next I jumped back into Urban Fantasy, one was a bit boring and I DNF’ed but then I finally tried Heather G Harris’ Glimmer of the Other and burned through it. I’m up to book 4 and was very thankful I bought the omnibus when it was on sale!
Have you found any great reads of late? I’m always wanting to add to my massive TBR pile.
